Understanding Students With a Military Affiliation
Jacksonville University is proud to be one of the most military friendly campuses in the United States with designations as a G.I. Jobs Military Friendly School; U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges for Veterans; and Military Advanced Education & Transition Top School for Military/Veteran Education. We value our military students not only for their service to our country but also the leadership, life experience and maturity they bring to the educational environment on our campus.
Our faculty and staff are essential leaders in the successful assimilation of military students into the Jacksonville University community. To enable faculty and staff to better understand the background and challenges of our military students, we have developed two initiatives as outlined below:
-

This provides an overview designed to assist Jacksonville University faculty and staff in better understanding the background and experience of military members who matriculate at our University. This Overview provides information on Military Students in the Classroom, Military Branches, Military Rank Structure, and Points to Remember.

Green Zone Training
Green Zone training is for faculty and staff that wish to learn more about the military affiliated student experience. Its goals are to train members of the Jacksonville University community to know more about the issues and concerns faced by military affiliated students and to identify individuals who are available to assist this population. Through this training, faculty and staff can lend a sympathetic ear and help the student veteran identify and connect with the appropriate resources. Participants who complete the training will receive a sign to display in their office and have their name listed on our website as having completed the training. Green Zone training opportunities are listed below:
- Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 2 pm - DCOBT Room 174
- Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 2 pm - DCOBT Room 174
- Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 2 pm - DCOBT Room 174
